We’ve heard the feedback from our friends (and a few critics alike) and taken them to heart in our new release of Surchur. We think you’ll really like what you find. A much cleaner design. RSS. Top Weekly, Daily and Up and Coming surches so you can see what’s hot on the Web. Improved performance. There’s a lot to like about the new version. Please take it for a spin and tell us what you think.
Things are good and we definitely believe that NS > OS ( New Surchur is greater than Old Surchur ).
After our first full day of significant coverage on the web we’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to review surchur.com. Biggest single takeaway - everyone loves the ability to bring all of the sources we offer at the keyword topical level we offer. However, the biggest suggested improvement - tightening up the design a bit. So that will be our primary focus for now.
Thanks again to everyone for your feedback.
The Surchur guys
What can I say. I’ve been thinking about doing the “outsourcing the startup” blog for sometime. This little entry could be an intro to that blog as surchur was built on the premise of offshoring to solid talent oversees and sharing profilt.
I’ve been working with offshore developers, designers, writers and data entry firms for a couple of years now. One principle I’ve learned above all others - making those you work with feel like part of some bigger team in as many ways as possible makes them love to work with you.
Case in point: Petru, the lead developer of surchur, is a friend that I’ve been doing some offshore work with for over a year now. I’d had the idea for surchur after thinking that popurls could be more powerful if it was keyword driven. Got Petru involved with the brainstorming and then took the risk of sharing 25% of profits with him. Scared my wife and friends - you’re sharing 25 PERCENT of profit with a guy you have never even seen face to face but only had Skype chats with?
Fun thing is it has been low risk and fun for both of us. Petru is loving the development, excited about 25% (of nothing right now I might add - wouldn’t mind if that changed ) and still getting paid his standard fees for his work. The income possibility is attractive but more importantly, as he’s told me many times, is the fact that he and I have become a team and he’s enjoying that. I’ve even begun to enhance my Romanian vocabulary substantially.
We start today with our inaugural blog entry as we launch Surchur! Our initial plans for launch were a week or two away, HOWEVER, as you may know “happenings” in the Web2.0 world have thrust a quick launch upon us. In fact, this blog was slapped up in about 15 minutes flat - props to Wordpress.
We have been “fiddling” with the Surchur concept for several months now and will continue to fiddle, hopefully for months or years to come. In the meantime, please enjoy the service and PLEASE hurl your feedback, bug finds and whatever comments you can back to us - we will certainly respond.
Now, I’d encourage you to check out the FAQs or the top surches on the front page.
